Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gets your metabolism going and gives you the necessary energy to make it another great day. In ‘negenduust’ (Ghent) they love a full breakfast, so there are plenty of places where you can start your day tastefully. We selected the most enjoyable and, of course, the most delicious hotspots. Do you prefer the scrambled eggs of happy organic chickens, a fresh slice of bread with homemade jam or artisanal chocolate spread? Or are you more into the delicious American pancakes with a generous portion of syrup? There’s something for everyone in this cosy place. Gust will reopen in October because the owner is on maternity leave. The restaurant will then be open every day, except Wednesday and Saturday, from 9 am to 2 pm. Reservations are necessary.

02. LUV L’OEUF
All-day breakfast is the concept of this delicious hotspot. Sleep late, because here they serve French toast or a honey pot with delicious Greek yogurt even at 4 pm. You can get a table for up to six people and reservations are not necessary. The menu has also been updated, so the ideal excuse to pop in again.

03. MADAM BAKSTER
Delicious and completely guilt-free breakfast, because here you will find on the menu no refined sugars, animal products and artificial flavors or preservatives. For the sweet tooth, there is the creamy chia pudding with mango and a touch of chocolate. Those who are more of a fan of a savory breakfast can choose a spelt doughnut sandwich with hummus and avocado. The business opens its doors from June 11. Reservations can be made through the site, but are not required.

Here you will find more than just bread as the name suggests. You can sit down at a long, communal table in one of their two establishments and meet new people over breakfast. The menu includes a fresh fruit salad, homemade chia pudding and toast scrambled eggs. Reservations are not necessary. By the way, you also have a cool terrace at each establishment.

05. OATS DAY LONG
Brother and sister Anse and Ewout opened the first oatmeal bar in the Benelux. They take the well-known product to the next level and pimp your bowl with homemade apple compote, peanut butter, fresh mango, asparagus, risotto or yellow dahl (curry). They also have oatmeal pancakes and cinnamon rolls. Reservations are not necessary, but on weekends a good idea if you want to be sure of a seat.

The place did not steal its name, because at the first step you imagine yourself Alice in Wonderland. The pink interior is completely Instagramproof. You can choose between a sweet breakfast with French toast or a salty version with a pistolet with salmon. Reservations are possible but not required.

Don’t expect a piece of cheesecake on your plate, but a scone, a yoghurt bowl, a cinnamon roll or a croissant. Currently you can only sit inside on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Reservations are recommended but not required.

This address is located a bit out of the center, but it is well worth the trip. In spring and summer you can sit on a nice outdoor terrace and in winter or when it rains you can enjoy the beautiful interior of a plate with splashing colors. The restaurant works with reservations and welcomes guests back with a new menu.

Here they want you to enjoy healthy and conscious eating. With success! They work with the pure, honest taste of organic ingredients, and so easily make you forget about that chocolate sandwich in the morning. The plates look almost too beautiful to eat empty. Fortunately, these works of art not only make you happy, they also taste delicious. A feast for the eyes and the taste buds! It is located a little outside the center, but the interior makes you forget that immediately. There are currently renovations underway, so this place will not open its doors until July. P+R WATERSPORTBAAN
Parking is free here. You can take the public transport here at very low rate. Only 0,15 EUR. But you will need to buy a ticket at the automatic ticket machine, otherwise you will get a fine. The ticket is valid for 48 hours. Free parking in Ghent on Sunday, except in the undergroud parking lots (check if your car fits in the LEZ zone!).

LOW EMISSION ZONE
You can take your car into Ghent. But be aware of the LEZ in Ghent (low emission zone). Foreign license plates need to register upfront to avoid fines.

There are 2 parking spaces where LEZ doesn’t apply: ‘Gent Zuid‘ and ‘P+R Ledeberg‘
The easiest way is take the E40 and then the E17 and follow the signs Gent (Centrum).
Until further notice you will have to use another way as the connection from E40 to E17 is unavailable due to roadworks.
STREET PARKING
Once you are registered to enter the low emission zone in Ghent, you can park on the streets as well.
Ghent has different price zones regarding parking spots. The more you are in the center the more expensive.
The easiest way is take the E40 and then the E17 and follow the signs Gent (Centrum).
Until further notice you will have to use another way as the connection from E40 to E17 is unavailable due to roadworks.

WALKS
LITTLE FERRY
Leave the driveway and walk right. Take the 2nd road on your left and walk towards the church (12th century). At the end of the little road at the left side of the church you will find a little ferry that will bring you across the river Leie. You can walk there for hours.
THROUGH THE FIELDS
You can also walk through the fields. For that trail you leave the driveway and walk right but now you take the 1st road on the left.

PARKBOS

A little further, but only 5 minutes away with the car (30 minutes on foot) is ‘Parkbos’: a beautiful green and soothing park. There are different trails from 2,4km to 6,7km. But you can easily combine them to walk the whole day.
There is a parking lot to leave your car.
ALBIJN VAN DEN ABEELE
“Albijn Van Den Abeele” trail (9km) is a very nice walk through the nature and architecture of Sint-Martens-Latem. We can recommend it for sure!
